Introduction

Automatic Drop Seal (also known as Drop-Down Acoustical Drop Seal), offers improved clearance over standard door bottoms by retracting when the door is open to accommodate carpets, rugs and other floor surfaces. When closed, the door bottom creates a strong, reliable barrier for sound, air infiltration and dust.

Mechanism

When the door closes, the spring system is activated.

The rubber seal descends to form a tight barrier and retracts automatically when the door is opened.

If I Fit an automatic door Bottom, do I Need to Fit a Threshold Plate Too?

We’d recommend you consider using a silicone rubber seal overal type automatic door Bottom seals. There are perimeter and threshold sealing products included, and both the carriers and gaskets are impervious to most strong cleaning chemicals, making them ideal for hospitals.

Please note that while these seals will provide a comprehensive smoke sealing solution, if you have a fire rated door then an appropriate fire seal should be fitted in addition.
